FF6 - Born this Way by KatimusPrime FF6 - Born this Way by KatimusPrime
I was riding high off of seeing the video for Lady Gaga's Born this Way and ended up drawing Esper Terra kind of in a Lady Gaga-ish version of Terra's regular costume? With more curves. ^^

I've always loved Terra simply for the fact that she's this quiet, subdued girl with ridiculous powers that only wants normal things. I guess you could say the same for Aeris, but I dunno, Terra's transformation and dealing with it and the world touched me more. I was also 12 or 13 when I first played FF6, so it was a more formative experience for me. ^^

So, yeah, picture of someone trying to accept herself inspired by a song about accepting yourself?

This is also an experiment in channel tomfoolery in Photoshop. I drew this in blue pen. :D

XD I guess I don't spend a lot of time around Aerises. She got the Moe stamp on her head before I decided I didn't like her and didn't want too much to do with her. ^^

YAY!! :D

Wah! Tragic! D8 XD

I admit, she often gets interpreted/played that way and they really gave her that kind of treatment in AC, but if you just look at the original character: she spent her formative years as a lab subject, the rest of her time in the slums, she scams people with flower prices, dresses boys in drag and runs from Turks. I always saw her as street smart, morally relative in a hippie way, shrewd enough to hide behind her ~*~pretty and innocent~*~ exterior when need be, and subtly hilarious. Of course, I mean, that's with a side of princess (bet if Cloud let her, she'd spend all the gil from monsters on dresses and lingerie), but I could imagine she's capable of kicking more ass than she appears to be.

Then again, she was my first FFVII RP character (I first picked her up because I used to dress like her--you know, the ultra feminine dresses with.... Boots. 8|). XD;;; You should ask Drak about mine--she's played against her numerous times. And knows what mischief she can wreck. :>

Hrm. I never thought to see it that way. XD I think it was because I chose Tifa/Cloud when I took a side in the Cloud ship-war. (I'm always closing my mind when it comes to ships, but that's mostly due to the fact that if too much is entertaining to me, it's hard to do what I need to get done because I'm distracted. D: ) Anyway, we all dote on our faves. XD I think there's only one character I ever RP'd as that I never truly connected with. XD Playing someone always changes your view of them.

Well... I've played and written Aerith/Cloud, but... if it's kind of between the two of them for Cloud, I really prefer Tifa. (Though I really really am secretly partial to Aerith/Tifa--because yeah, I just go ahead and let myself get distracted! 8|;;)

And totally true on both counts--plus there's something kind of fun about having favorites to love AND hate, and having (friendly B|) debates about them. Kind of a huge point of fandom. ^^

Absolutely, though, I think playing a character and/or playing a close canonmate of a character can do a lot to one's perspective. I really wasn't half the Hojo fangirl I am now before I picked up Lu--and I seriously never expected her to do anything positive in that direction. But looking through her eyes reinforced his subtle shades of humanity, even after that silly DoC mess. :P

XDDD I'm all on board for Aeris/Tifa myself, actually. |3

Yeah. D: I'm a little afraid of myself sometimes simply on the account that I tend to get bent out of shape, particularly when it comes to FF7. It's gotten better to the point where the only things I get really sore on are Hojo/Lucrecia (or actually, no, the thing I get really sore on are folks insisting on Vincent/Lucrecia without giving Hojo even a part in a threesome, but even in a threesome, I'm disinterested in Vincent's part in it). I think it has something to do with my distrust of my stepdad after my parents' divorce, since I know I've dropped the tl;dr bomb of distrusting the YOUNG INNOCENT HERO butting in on the albeit slightly abusive established couple. I have a rather toothy pre-programmed response of YOU'RE NOT MY DAD. GET AWAY FROM MY MOM. (Consequentially, this is kinda why I shy away from doing any actual FF7 porn, too.)

I really do need to get around to watching the cutscenes for DoC. It might fuel my Knightface rage, since it's kinda very rooted in my love for FF7. (Hayden worshipping this god that most other people consider evil (Yras -> Hojo) who kinda forsook his wife (Sa'ina -> Lucrecia), much to the dismay of a hero who SECRETLY LIKED HER (Selyr -> Vincent). Oh dear, I think I've tl;dr'd. But, uh, if you pay enough attention, I am very ham-handed about FF7 canon and fanon in Knightface. BUT SHH, DON'T TELL NOBODY.)

YURI!!! YAAAAAY! |3

Oh, but I like your tl;dr. ^^ And I'm kind of used to ham-handedness in fanon from Hojo players--oh, I mean, is that so? Hadn't noticed. ;)

I think your response totally makes sense under the circumstances. I know with Lucrecia, I've been known to go cut-a-bitch when the topic of whether or not Lucrecia actually carried and bore a child comes up (I don't know if you've heard that one or not), and it's based on the fact I first identified with her trying to be a kick ass scientist and a mother and going psycho and failing utterly in the process. So there are things that just kind of... hit us. (And there's plenty of Vincent porn in the world anyway, why the hell can't we just have some more Hojo/Lu?)

I get sore about the exclusive Vincent/Lu, too, just because I really don't think it works. Ever. Whereas Hojo/Lu has a snowball's chance in Hell. In some ways, Lucy and Vin are too closely the same people, and in other ways, too different to come to an understanding. If Vincent had had the decency to go/stay gay, depending on your fanon, then she would have made a perfect fag hag, but gf? Really? REALLY?! They're both too needy as individuals, and would sink each other into black, worrisome pits of despair with all the radiating emo. Lucy needs someone with more surety to his form, even if he's a bastard, and Vincent needs someone he can share EVERYTHING with, not someone who's squeezing him in between protein samples and lab write-ups.

Then again, my idea of romance is when a guy buys me a replacement set of volumetric flasks or crickets for my carnivorous plant babies or spends the whole night sitting up with me discussing how universal energy theory affects our understanding of God, so what the hell do I know?

And, by the way, I did pick up tastes of that in Knightface, which I found made the whole thing even more brilliant. I am so in love and I can't wait to see like... the entire universe (the mythology especially--I'm a little obsessed with gods and heroes--much to the dismay of... probably every single one of my colleagues in the biochem department). So, yes, please watch cutscenes and fuel your Fanon Raeg. :D

Eeee, just wanted to know I did read this comment and it is full of awesome. :>

Sometimes I think a lot of Lu/Vin shippers are just fangirls who like Vincent and project themselves onto Lu. I DO have sympathy for Vincent being stuck in the middle, but the answer for Vincent isn't for him to be with Lucrecia, it's for him to not extend the pain of his being in the middle of shit and find something that's truly his. And kark, why do I have to get back to work? T_T

Ehe, I hadn't quite intended to, but she honestly would make an excellent subject. :D Now I gotta decide what color to make her outfit, or just go with canon. ::wheels in brain turning::
